ADULT CAREER TRAINING PROGRAM
This program offers specialized training designed to equip low-income adults for careers in the Electrical/Telecommunications and Solar Installation Industries. Students will learn basic electric, telecommunications or solar installation, how to start a business, how to use trade tools and will be provided the tools needed for work after the training. The training includes daily math refresh, weekly social skills development sessions and academic classes and support for high school drop outs to ensure they meet the high school diploma/equivalency employment standard. Necessary work certifications, First Aid/CPR and CalOSHA Safety certifications. Our expectation is that all students that complete the training will qualify for union apprentice programs or employment in private industry. Once employed, participants will be assigned a job coach for 6-12 months after employment. The major outcomes are to 1) provide the supports needed to level the playing field for individuals that are competing for jobs with individuals without extensive barriers, and 2) ensure participants are employed and ultimately meet the national self-sufficiency standard.
